Posted By Diane
Of all the ingredients that can be found in most skincare products available today, do you know the ones that stand out the most? It may seem hard for you to decide what to choose for your skin as we are now bombarded with a lot of skincare ingredients, so we have listed down the best ones from A to Z that you should look out for to keep your complexion looking healthy and radiant.

Aloe Vera- this clear, jelly-like substance is found in the inner part of the aloe plant leaf. As a natural ingredient, Aloe is known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties as they work wonders in protecting the skin from oxidative damage while supporting the effective penetration of healthy substances into the skin. People have been using this for relieving sunburn and healing wounds as well.

Benzoyl Peroxide-
its antibacterial properties help in reducing acne on the skin. It also controls excess oil and prevents pores from clogging to avoid acne-causing bacteria. However, it is best to only apply products with Benzoyl Peroxide when really needed for it can over dry the skin if used regularly.

Collagen -
our bodies do have the ability to create this natural substance especially the younger ones. Therefore, the collagen production decreases (at a rate of 1.5% less each year) as one age specifically starting at the age of 25.

Dimethicone- this widely used ingredient works best as a skin protectant. It is derived from a Silicone Polymer which smoothes out the skin. Dimethicone is commonly found in cosmetics as it can fill out wrinkles while preventing moisture loss in the skin. It is recommended to wash this off thoroughly for it can cause skin clogging if not removed properly.

Emollients- these non-cosmetic moisturizers usually come in the form of creams, ointment, lotions, and gels. Emollients not only soothe and prevent cracks but they also help in managing dry, itchy or scaly conditions such as eczema, ichthyosis, and psoriasis.

Ferulic Acid- it plays a vital role in protecting and preserving the plants. When applied topically on the skin, Ferulic Acid acts as an antioxidant to slow down the aging process by counteracting the damaging effects of free radicals.

Glycolic Acid- its ability to gently slough away dead skin cells made this as the perfect exfoliant especially for dry skin. Glycolic Acid can be quickly absorbed by the skin making it also the most effective exfoliating treatment for acne, blackheads, dullness, oiliness and more.

Idebenone- it is known as the synthetic derivative of the potent antioxidant, Coenzyme Q10. Idebenone has the ability to protect the skin from free radical damage as it also improves the appearance of fine lines, reduces dryness and smoothens the skin texture.

Jojoba Oil- since this oil resembles the sebum that our bodies naturally produce, it became one of the most used oils in the skincare market today. Jojoba oil suits any type of skin. It can also be an alternative treatment for oily and acne-prone skin for it helps in controlling sebum production.

Kiwi Fruit Extract- this powerhouse antioxidant promotes collagen production and supports elastin proteins in order to fight aging and free radical damage with Vitamin E and C. Kiwi Fruit Extract acts a moisturizer too to keep the skin smooth and supple.

Lipids- these stand as the mortar between the skin cells which retains the skin barrier as one age. If you want to recapture the plumpness of your skin, lipids can help you out. They are often labeled as ceramides and fatty acids. Ceramides support the skin barrier as they retain moisture while Fatty Acids essentially keep the skin supple, nourished and moisturized from the inside out.

Manuka Oil- this potent essential oil is known for its anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic benefits. Manuka oil is dubbed as the miracle skin protector that can treat and prevent acne. It also helps in delaying skin aging and even treat dandruff on the scalp.

With its antioxidant properties, it can give you a youthful appearance and protect your skin from free radical damage.

Salicylic Acid- this plays a major role when it comes to treating and preventing acne. Salicylic Acid cleanses and clears out pores to prevent dirt and keep excess oil production at bay. Because of this, one can avoid getting blemishes.
